    Application areas: Imaging of animal models of tumors, cardiovascular, nervous system, endocrine system, and immune system;

New drug screening, competitive binding, targeted research, and research on pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and clinical pharmacology; suitable as a scientific research platform equipment, serving multiple disciplines.

Small animal PET/CT is a leading technology in the fields of basic medicine, bioengineering and medicine. It obtains various data on the physical condition of the animal and the distribution of drugs in the small animal by performing functional and anatomical imaging of rodents (mice or rats) in vivo. It can provide advanced technical support for tumors, neurological, cardiovascular diseases, genetic research, preclinical drug screening, etc. With the development of genomics, small animals are becoming increasingly important in modern molecular biology experiments. The emergence of "microscopic" small animal PET/CT has become an important tool for molecular imaging, which can clearly image the tiny details in the organs of mice.

Compared with other molecular imaging methods, it has the following advantages:
► Basic research - clinical application - product transformation, seamless connection, isotope labeling of drugs, research on drug metabolism and biodistribution at the in vivo level, while the experimental results can be directly extrapolated to human research and verified by clinical PET, which can shorten the time for new compounds to enter clinical research, accelerate transformation and new drug launch, especially small molecule drugs.
► High sensitivity, capable of measuring picomolar to femtomolar drug concentrations in tissues of interest.
►Quantitative imaging can dynamically obtain kinetic data on the order of seconds, enabling rapid imaging of physiological and pharmacological processes.
►Non-invasive imaging, the injection dose is at the nanogram level, it will not produce pharmacological side effects, it is safe, reliable, convenient and easy.
►Intuitive and accurate, the use of rodent PET can significantly reduce experimental costs, and can be repeated on the same animal, continuous experiments, and self-control, avoiding species differences and intra-group differences.

Principle: Use positron nuclides to label specific molecules, and obtain the distribution of molecules by measuring the distribution of positrons.

    "Microscopic" PET technology

The most commonly used animal model in medicine and pharmacy is the mouse model. In a paper published in the journal JNM, the team of Professor Simon R. Cherry of UC Davis proposed that "clear PET imaging of mice requires a spatial resolution of 0.5mm" [We call small animal PET with a spatial resolution of 0.5mm "microscopic" small animal PET.

Note: "A spatial resolution of ~0.5 mm is required for a small-animal PETscanner if one wants to image the mouse with the same relative spatial resolution as achieved in a human using a clinical whole body PETscanner with 5-mm spatial resolution (5, 6)".[Literature source: JNucl Med.2016July; 57(7):1130-1135.]

Medwin's small animal PET uses a self-developed submillimeter PET probe with a spatial resolution of 0.48mm, ushering in an era of clear PET imaging for mice.

Core technology - All core components and key technologies of the entire product line are independently developed

    • Sub-millimeter detector production technology
It has a complete production line of crystal cutting, grinding, polishing and testing.

    • Ultra-low power consumption Plug & Play circuit design and process control technology
Independently developed ultra-high integration PET electronic system, its power is <100w ISO9001 production process control

    • GPU accelerated reconstruction algorithm
List-mode is suitable for dynamic and fast scanning, maximizing the retention of original information

Attenuation correction technology based on high-definition CT images ensures the accuracy of quantitative analysis

The MadicLab Box series of products adopts the PSA series "micro" PET technology. Not only does it have powerful performance, but its compact and exquisite desktop body design allows it to be placed in any laboratory, providing advanced technical support for whole-body imaging and in vivo characterization of preclinical small animal models.
