Air Float Cage - Standard version of the platform for in vivo neurological research of awake and active mice - compatible with all standard microscopes
Optical and electrical recordings in living rodents have revolutionized brain research. However, the use of general anesthetics severely affects brain function and greatly limits the relevance of in vivo experiments. Early solutions that allowed head fixation of awake rodents led to groundbreaking research, but unfortunately, these solutions were bulky and difficult to fit into experimental setups. Furthermore, they relied too heavily on visual stimulation and did not provide sensory input.
The air cage can be easily placed under the microscope. It provides a real, tangible and familiar environment for mice to explore and navigate during live recording or imaging experiments.
Air Cage® equipped with motion tracking system

The motion tracking function is helpful for behavioral research: the tracking software records the movement trajectory and speed of the mouse and controls external devices through a TTL port activated by the mouse behavior in closed-loop experiments.
Unique advantages of Air Flotation Cage®

• No anesthesia required, studies performed in awake, moving, head-fixed animals
• Stable, firm, micron-precision head fixation
• Lightweight and compact, compatible with all major microscope types – no modification required
• Effectively reduces stress (mouse handling and training is reduced to 3-4 days without anesthesia)
• Real and natural environment (the cage provides tactile and olfactory stimulation, eliminating complete reliance on vision; by using a transparent cage, visual stimulation can be further combined in a specific environment)• Allows behavioral studies to be performed simultaneously with a variety of high-precision optical imaging and electrophysiological methodologies including:
- Two-photon microscopy
- Patch clamp
- Optogenetics
- Multi-channel microelectrodes
- Silicon probe
- Functional ultrasound imaging• Locomotion tracking system (optional) with high-speed recording and spatial resolution (free tracking software synchronized with external microscopy and electrophysiological recordings to control reward and stimulation systems in closed-loop experiments)
