    The Orbit mini is a four-channel artificial lipid bilayer recording device that includes a built-in, miniaturized four-channel low noise amplifier (Elements S.RL) that allows low noise recording at high bandwidth without the need for additional equipment and uses Ionera's microelectrode cavity array (MECA) chip technology. The Orbit mini can record from four separate lipid bilayers in parallel and ensure high quality and high signal-to-noise ratio 100 KHz bandwidth recording. The Orbit mini system has been validated for many target proteins, including ligand-gated ion channels, voltage-gated ion channels, porins, origami DNA structures, antimicrobial peptides and membrane-active toxins. The temperature control accessories of the Orbit mini can be used to study temperature-sensitive channels such as the TRP family or to maintain the experimental environment at physiological temperature. The Orbit is equipped with specially customized data recording software (EDR software) to facilitate data acquisition and real-time data verification through online analysis.

     

    Orbit mini is an all-in-one temperature-controlled lipid bilayer experimental device. Orbit mini has the following unique features:

    Minimal footprint: No shielding cage or anti-vibration table required.

    Integrated 4-channel amplifier with noise levels comparable to all existing single-channel amplifiers (Axopatch 200B, Warner BC-535, HEKA EPC-10, etc.). High-speed sampling up to 100 kHz @ 200 kHz sampling bandwidth per channel ensures detection of the fastest channel openings. No additional DACs or low-pass filters are required.

    Optional temperature control system: allows experimental temperature control between 4 and 55 ˚C. Easy connection to any computer via USB cable, no additional power supply required.

    Easy-to-use EDR software with some commonly used preset voltage paradigms that can be modified. Built-in RC evaluation function allows direct reading of membrane capacitance and impedance at the push of a button. Data can be exported in .dat, .csv and .abf formats, allowing convenient continuous data evaluation. Orbit mini Temperature Control Unit Temperature Control Unit Back 2. Orbit mini uses Ionera's 4-channel MECA 4 chip, which has the following advantages:

    • Functional lipid bilayers can be prepared in seconds.
    • The unique horizontal arrangement of the membrane can be easily observed during recording by techniques such as fluorescence or phase contrast microscopy.
    • Extremely low reagent consumption through miniaturized containers (only 150 µl of solution is enough to add to the cis side, Cis side: the side of the lipid bilayer close to the operator), no stirring is required for small volume chips, making temperature changes faster.
    • Microelectrode chambers can be customized down to 16 µm diameter, allowing for minimal membrane capacitance levels.
    • MECA 4 chips do not require special handling or storage conditions and can be reused several times.
    • Minutes to clean, whereas conventional Teflon ® or Delrin ® cups require at least 30 minutes.
    • The chip has its own measurement chamber with integrated recording and reference electrodes, which completely eliminates contamination: one chip can be reused for one experimental subject.
